The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County is dedicated to helping all youth reach their full potential. After only ten years in operation we have grown to an organization reaching nearly 2,000 youth a year with a $2 million budget.
We are committed to growing and reaching more youth in Dane County who need us the most and deepening our impact to close the racial and income achievement gaps. We pride ourselves on developing innovative programs and partnerships that open more doors for our youth.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Professional Officer will be responsible for providing the overall leadership necessary for the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County to achieve its mission. With a focus on implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, the Chief Professional Officer will provide direction and leadership relating to program, fund and community development. He/she will take an active role in supporting and retaining outstanding staff and building a culture focused on embracing diversity.
Specific job duties:
· Guides, supports and serves the Board of Directors in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets and programs that fulfill the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.
· Provides leadership to Club staff through the establishment of goals, objectives, and procedures; develops administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
· Promotes an organizational culture that fosters passion for the mission, cooperation, open and frequent communication, teamwork, and a common organizational vision.
· Oversees an appropriate organizational structure and ensures that the programmatic objectives are aligned with the mission and are supported internally by: facilities, technology, finances, communication, and/or functional needs.
· Oversees staffing activities of the organization, including recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff.
· Ensures that Boys and Girls Club of Dane County and itsmission, programs, and services are consistently presented in astrong, positive manner to relevant stakeholders.
· Develop, recommend and manage the annual operating budget.
· Oversees fundraising planningand implementation, including identifying resource requirements,researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approachfunders, submitting proposals and overseeing fundraising records and documentation.
· Assures management and attainment of resources necessary to ensure the financial operations of the agency are conducted in a manner approved by the Board of Directors and in accordance with applicable laws and. Assures that the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys &Girls Clubs of America, United Way and other affiliated and regulatory agencies.
· Collaborates with and supports the Board of Directors in the development of an effective and motivated board, including identification, recruitment, training and involvement of members in meeting the goals of the organization.
· Promotes and models an organization that embraces and encourages cultural diversity.
Selection Criteria:
· Significant and proven leadership skills developed through several years in senior managementpositions. Candidate’s experience can include work in a non-profit, for-profit, or government organization. Experience in the social services sector is highly desired.
· Excellent organizational development, interpersonal, marketing, communication, administration and personnel management skills are essential.
· Ability to move seamlessly between staff, volunteers, Board members, funders, community and kids.
· Well-rounded experience in the areas of: partnership development, marketing, and fundraising.
· Demonstrated success in generating revenues through a variety of fund raising techniques, including experience with major gifts solicitation, planned giving, annual campaigns, special events and grant proposals.
· Financial and operational acumen; direct experience with budget development/management and P&L oversight.
· Proven skills developing and implementing strategic business plans.
· Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations within a multi-unit organization.
· Ability to foster a healthy organizational culture, to encourage teamwork and collaboration; strong interpersonal skills that include the ability to inspire and motivate; effective at conflict management.
· Experience working with a Board of Directors or other governing body.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong presentation skills.
· Passion for the mission of Boys and Girls Club.
· Demonstrated success working with diverse groups and perspectives.
· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
